Short Description
Snout rather obtuse, rostrum ridge separated throughout its length. Width of the mouth about 1.9 times in snout length. One skinny projection from hind margin of spiracles. Back with small tubercles, and some spiniform. First dorsal fin well behind pelvic fin. The length of the nostril twice the width of the mouth and equal to internarial space. Colour : Body grey to brownish above, white below; large specimens have occasionally black blotch on back. [12520]

Distribution
Indo-West Pacific: off Pakistan to the "Malay Archipelago"; and the "East Indies", with more specific records from the area not confirmed. South African records refer to Rhinobatos blochii and Rhinobatos leucospilus (Compagno pers. comm.). Source: www.gbif.org

Biology
Exhibit ovoviparity (aplacental viviparity), with embryos feeding initially on yolk, then receiving additional nourishment from the mother by indirect absorption of uterine fluid enriched with mucus, fat or protein through specialised structures [733].
