Short Description
A small, very slim shark with a long, narrow snout, big eyes with rear notches, short labial furrows, and small, oblique-cusped teeth with smooth edges; 2nd dorsal fin small, low and behind larger anal fin; interdorsal ridge rudimentary or absent [536]. Grey above, pale below, fins with pale edges (transparent in life), caudal and first dorsal fins with narrow dark margin, first dorsal fin also with a dusky tip [544].

Diet: 2015: [22757]: Arabian Gulf waters of the United Arab Emirates (database: 53 speciemens): L. macrorhinus seemed to have a preference for one species in terms of teleosts (anchovies) (35.1%) and fed on a wider variety of crustaceans and cephalopods (22.6%).

Biology
Viviparous, with a yolk-sac placenta; 2-4 pups per litter. Size at birth 40-43 cm; 54-55 cm TL [2539]. Distinct pairing with embrace [17086]. Occurs on the continental shelf (Ref. 75154). Feeds on fish, squids and shrimps [536].

Teeth in 11-1-11/11-1-11 series, those of the upper jaw oblique, with the inner edge slightly angulated mesially, those of the lower linear and nearly horizontal (described from Scoliodon affinis = synonym of Loxodon macrorhinus, holotype QM I.1526) [11847];
